Binfield Singers held their annual Christmas Concert at St Mark’s Church, Binfield on Sunday 13th December.
The evening consisted of a mix of traditional carols and seasonal music together with contributions by members of the Singers reading prose and original material. The programme concluded with a new piece of music composed by Bob Chilcott for the 150th anniversary of John Lewis’ iconic Oxford Street store in London. Called Wenceslas, it recalls the poetic text of Charles Bennett based around the tenth-century Czech legend of a good king and his trusted page.
The Singers greatly enjoyed performing this modern piece which was well received by all those that attended. It proved to be a fun event for all with much reminiscing over refreshments after the concert.
Money raised through programme sales and the retiring collection was donated to the Propsects – for people with learning disabilities
